Roberto Aquino

Interests: Photography, Web Development, Technology, and Networking

My name is Roberto Aquino. I am a Senior at Western International High School in Detroit. This summer I am the Social Media Specialist for Life Directions. I enjoy learning how everything interconnects on a technological level and in communities like Southwest Detroit. I am fascinated by web development, and I would like to thank Grow Detroit’s Young Talent for this opportunity. I have made a website for Partnership for Youth, and I spend a lot of my time volunteering with non-profit organizations such as Congress of Communities, Urban Neighborhood Initiatives and Grace in Action. I’m currently on Congress of Communities Executive Board as a Youth Executive Leader, my role is to have youth voice in their organizations decision making. I am also on their Youth Council, and created a mural with my peers on the front wall of the LaSed Youth Center. I have received leadership training at University of Michigan’s Detroit Center. I also was a photographer for Urban Neighborhood Initiatives, a non-profit organization that works with communities to build safe and thriving environments. Many of my photos have been posted on their Facebook page. I plan to go to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor or Oakland University and major in Medicine or Finance and minor in Business.
