Program Assistants in Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI and Salem, OR
Description: To contact, recruit and work with young adults (ages 13-17 and 18-35) and adults to organize a values-based effort. The staff person reports to a Program Director. Responsibilities include:
- Coaching and facilitating Peer Motivation and Peer Mentor Programs in the schools and neighborhoods.
- Working in collaboration with groups, agencies, churches and organizations that target youth development, education and employment.
- Working in partnership with trained community volunteers who serves as role models.
- Implementing community-based activities and programs as well as organize events which promote positive values with young adults.
Desired abilities/experience:
- Illinois, Michigan and Oregon only.
- Be able to coach and facilitate group process.
- Able to facilitate a values-based process for cultural maturity.
- Able to partner with trained volunteers, especially ages 18-35.
- Have familiarity networking with community agencies and organizations.
- Have experience working in urban settings with multi-cultural populations.
- Have experience in outreach work with Teens (age13-17) and young adults (ages 18-35).
- Able to contact and recruit young adults for participation in community based programs and activities.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish & English)
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Service arena or related field.
- Two years’ experience working with young adults (ages 18-35).
- Volunteer experience with young adults (ages 13-17 and 18-35).
- Ability to multi-task.
- Must own a car.
